Homemade Croutons

Mmmmm, what to with that leftover loaf of bread? Make crunchy croutons of course. This recipe is flexible and can be adapted as a savory or sweet topping for your soup or salad.

INGREDIENTS:

Leftover stale Italian, sourdough or french bread

olive oil

salt

pepper

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat over to 325 degrees. Cut stale or day old bread into 1-inch cubes. Place cubed bread on a large baking sheet.

2. Place cubed bread on a large baking sheet. Drizzle moderately with extra virgin olive oil. Salt and Pepper to taste.

3.Bake for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through until light golden brown and crispy.

4.Cool croutons and enjoy on salads or as a snack!

 

NOTES, TIPS & TRICKS: Experiment with spices and cheeses to create a variety of croutons, for example, garlic and parmesan cheese, Italian herb or brown sugar cinnamon.
