Watermelon Water

I’m still working on that 37 pound watermelon I bought a couple of weeks ago at the Farmer’s market. I’m down to the last half and still coming up with new ways to enjoy this juicy melon. 

Drink your watermelon! It’s ahealthy, fast and refreshing way to quench your summer thirst. 

I try to limit my sugar, so I use sugar-free syrups to sweeten coffee and cold drinks. If you prefer a more natural sweetener, use honey or a simple syrup make with honey or agave. Simple syrup is just equal parts water and sweetener boiled until the sweetener of choice has dissolved – blended with the water. I like to add citrus zest and ginger to my simple syrups for an extra flavor boost.

2 cups cubed watermelon

2 cups sparkling water, flavored or unflavored

6-8 ice cubes or frozen watermelon cubes

1/4 cup mint leaves 

Juice of 1/2 lime or to taste

Sugar-free syrup, simple syrup, honey, agave or Sweetener of choice to taste

Mint for garnish, optional


1. Blend watermelon cubes, mint and lime juice 

2. Strain watermelon mixture 

3. Add ice cubes or frozen cubes of watermelon to two glasses. Divide strained watermelon juice between glasses and top with sparkling water. Garnish with mint and serve.

NOTES, TIPS & TRICKS: Try different flavors of sparking water like lime, orange, cherry or even raspberry. 

Keep a batch of simple syrup on hand to sweeten your fave beverages.

Feel free to add a little booze to your watermelon juice for an adult water beverage!
